Dr. Bicalho is an orthopedic surgeon who practices general Orthopedic Surgery with a specialty in Hip, Knee and Shoulder Reconstructive Surgery as well as Sports Related Injuries and Minimally Invasive Surgery when appropriate.

Dr. Bicalho received his MD degree from The Chicago Medical School, in Chicago IL. His internship was performed at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. His residency in Orthopedic Surgery was completed at St. Louis University Hospital. He completed a fellowship in Joint Replacement Surgery at the Missouri Bone and Joint Center/Barnes Jewish West County Hospital. Dr. Bicalho is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery, and is a member of the Missouri State Medical Association, American Medical Association, American Board of Physician Specialties, Southern Illinois Medical Association, Missouri State Orthopaedic Association and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), and the American College of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Bicalho has served on multiple committees at Anderson Hospital including Surgery Committee and the Emergency Medicine Department committee. He is also fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.

Alyssa Ruwe

Ruwe Alyssia NP webAlyssa Ruwe FNP-BC, is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner employed at The Center for Advanced Orthopedics. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2011. In 2016, she received her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Maryville University. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Alyssa’s previous nursing experience includes acute medical and surgical care at both Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut and Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Alyssa has furthered her knowledge of the orthopedic specialty by training under both Dr. Grebing and Dr. Bicalho at The Center for Advanced Orthopedics since the beginning of 2017. She has also completed a musculoskeletal intensive course, sponsored by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Alyssa looks forward to providing quality orthopedic healthcare for the patients of our community with the goal of returning them to the activities and lifestyle they enjoy.
